Independent researcher Mary McManus talks about the Real Living Wage and her work with the Scaffolding Project in East Belfast.

The Real Living Wage is a movement of businesses, organisations and people who believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. The Real Living Wage is an independently-calculated hourly rate based on the cost of living and is announced each November during Living Wage Week. It is currently £10.90 per hour (compared to the government’s National Living Wage of £9.50 per hour).
